Traveling and photography are inseparable over the nearly 40 years that Steve and Marie have been together. Their website contains incredible galleries.

Water is a common theme in their travels, most often under it (scuba diving), sometimes on it (snorkeling with whale sharks and humpback whales, kayaking, river rafting), and sometimes beside it (bicycling along rivers, chasing great light, amazing waterfalls, icebergs and glaciers in Iceland, Antarctica, and Svalbard).

Around The World in 80 Ways. Underwater photography has taken them around the world, to Galapagos, Indonesia, the Philippines, British Columbia, the Yucatan Peninsula, even Argentina. As many great underwater destinations have fabulous topside subjects as well, over the years, they’ve expanded their repertoire into landscape and topside wildlife (Komodo dragons, African safaris), as well as taken to the skies with drone photography. Their work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the La Jolla Athenaeum, the Stephen Birch Aquarium, the San Diego Natural History
Museum, and the Oceanside Museum of Art. Steve’s X-ray and CT-scan-based work has been shown at Jett Gallery, the Museum of Us (formerly Man), and the Mingei International Museum, and was included in a 2018 show at the Museum of Photographic Art, Hidden Worlds.
Marie’s underwater imagery was featured in a two woman show entitled The Tonic of Wildness in 2020 at the Photographer’s Eye Gallery in Escondido. Steve and Marie’s underwater images were exhibited together in November 2024 there in a show entitled Inner Space. They’re both regular speakers at camera clubs and have presented at San Diego Underwater Photographic Society film festivals. From 2017-2020, they contributed articles to Photofocus.com, an online photographic resource, including a series entitled The Traveling Photographer.
Their March presentation, “Wonders of the Underwater World”, will be an around-the-world whirlwind, including colorful reefs, amazingly camouflaged critters, whales, sharks, and crazy denizens of the dark from our latest obsession, blackwater photography. Join us for what will certainly be an eye-popping
presentation of incredible images.
