Scuba Dive Plan from Ken Carter:
We’ll probably do between 2 and 3 dives: two at Van Damme State Park (1 day, 1 night) and 1 at Portuguese Beach in Mendocino.
Van Damme is flat and about 6m/20′. We do about 100m surface swim, drop down, wander around for an hour or so. There is a reef further out and we are going to try out dive kayaks to get out that far.
Mendocino is my favorite dive north of Point Lobos. We wade out from the beach to a natural tunnel through the living rock. It’s about a 50m surface swim through the tunnel. Very pretty. We dive the wall under the sea cliffs. It starts in about 10m/30′ and gradually drops to 20m/60′.
Marin Scuba Club will provide:
- Campsite & Breakfast every morning
- Non-alcohol beverages
- Cups, plates & utensils, reduce plastic, please bring your own cups
- Firewood
You need to bring:
- Food for lunch/dinner, plus any other food or beverages you wish to bring
- Saturday evening pot-luck party: Please bring your favorite dish to share
What it Costs:
Camping: $42 each
Non-Camping: $18 each plus day fees at the gate
